A Piece of Home, Carried to Belleek Castle

Tomorrow, Friday 4th September, Sarah O’Boyle and Eddie Stack will marry at the historic Belleek Castle in County Mayo, and Irish Mead will be part of their day in a small but meaningful way.

Sarah was born and raised in Mayo, and when it came to choosing her wedding mead, there was only one honey that felt right. Her mead has been crafted using our Mayo Heather Honey, harvested from the same Atlantic moorlands she grew up alongside, a taste of home carried into the next chapter of her life.

Alongside the mead, Sarah and Eddie will share a bespoke Celtic love cup, handcrafted by Lou Wilde of Westport, for their first toast as a married couple, continuing a custom that stretches back thousands of years in Irish wedding tradition. It’s the same tradition that gave us the word “honeymoon”, newlyweds once gifted enough mead to last their first month of marriage.

This is one of the very first weddings we’ve had the honour of supplying mead for, and it feels fitting that it should be rooted so closely in Mayo, the county at the heart of everything we do.

Tomorrow, the O’Boyle and Stack families will be joined as one, and we’re proud that a small part of that day carries the same Irish heritage that inspired every bottle we make.
